There are two levels of Fail. If a fail places in the “miniscule to minor” range, the reaction is always laughter. If the fail falls anywhere above that range, the reaction is always “Oohh!!” – regardless of language spoken. This video proves it. For example, watch the three clips in a row starting at 47 seconds in. The reactions are always “Oohh!!” because the person might be hurt. The very next clip (55 seconds) where the dude falls off the rock in the water merits laughter because he’s obviously not hurt. The only exception to this rule is if a woman is filming the fail, in which case the reaction is a scream.

1:13 with the dude jumping across the little ditch is hilarious. 1:40 with the guy roundhouse kicking the dude is epic pwnage. 2:33 with the bus almost hitting the man is amazingly miraculous. 3:58 where the dog flies up in the air is surprisingly funny. 4:10 with the exploding bottle rocket is possibly the best video I’ve ever seen – and I’ve seen some pretty funny bottle rocket videos. Watch it a few times in a row. You might wet yourself. 4:48 where the guy runs up the crates is something I definitely want to try before I die. He almost makes it! I don’t even really consider that one a fail.

YOU ARE CONTRACTION FAIL

First of all, the game was amazing, and I don’t regret how tired I am this morning due to watching the entire game.

Secondly, I hate Terrell Owens. He was the only player that didn’t go across and shake hands with the opposing team, even though he won. He stayed away from center field and gloated to the crowd by himself so the cameramen would have to choose to either film everyone else shaking hands in the middle of the field, or run over and give him all the glory (which he didn’t deserve – I would give more glory to Witten in last night’s game than Owens).

And third but definitely not least, DeSean Jackson had an amazing TD catch, but threw it away like a fool because of his over-inflated ego. I’ll let the video do the talking:

My favorite part is when Mike Tirico (I think) says “That is VERY close. It’s… well it’s a great dance, but, let’s take a peek here.” This was not a touchdown and was ruled dead at the 1-yard line. The Eagles did end up scoring on the next play, but Jackson’s stats have one less TD reception, and McNabb’s stats have one less TD pass, all because of Jackson’s ego.

Now, here’s why I label DeSean Jackson an idiot. This is not the first time this has happened. He did a possibly even dumber thing on a TD run in the 2005 U.S. Army All-American Bowl:

Clearly he’s talented. But he’s also, now, an idiot. I was so glad I wasn’t an Eagles fan when I saw that happen. Can you imagine Wayne, Harrison, Gonzo, or Clark doing that? I would be ashamed to call myself a Colts fan.

At least, that’s what they think. The Westboro Baptist Church is protesting across from the convention center, which is where the Southern Baptist Convention is being held this week. They’re the ones with the God Hates Fags website.

I saw them on my way to work this morning. There’s even a little kid out there holding a sign that says “Your Pastor Is A Whore”. I’m really just amazed at how they have managed to hate everyone in the world. Here is a list of people they hate: homosexuals, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Chinese, Canadians, Mexicans, Swedes, Irish, British, and Americans. Now, the WBC, which calls itself Baptist, hates Southern Baptists.

I just think the WBC is a good case study for people who are trying to grow their church and reach out to people. They’ve got it going on, in my opinion, and I think in the end it will work.

I have one more thought about these picketers. I noticed that there were about 6 protesters and about 9 police officers standing behind them, making sure no one throws a molotov cocktail directly at their eyes and faces. Do you realize how much of a waste of resources this is? There are 9 police officers, earning their well deserved $28k per year, who have been effectively incapacitated and removed from the system in order to make sure no one kills these people.

I guarantee you a crime will be committed against a person somewhere out there today that would not have happened if those extra 9 cops were on patrol.

Of course, there will also be 9 less speeding tickets given out. Maybe the WBC isn’t so bad after all…

There’s this new technology called Silverlight from Microsoft, which basically exists to support fast, cost-effective delivery of high-quality video to all major browsers. When I installed it in my browser, IE at the time, nothing happened. I was supposed to be seeing this shiny, spinning carousel of Microsoft downloads seen over there →.

I tried installing it within IE7 but nothing happened. I tried again – still nothing. Then I opened Firefox, and let me tell you I had it installed in no time. Basically a browser restart was required, but only Firefox was kind enough to let me know what was going on.

That is not the most troubling part, however. At least it still worked in IE – that is, after I restarted the browser. The reason I was even at this website was to install a program called Visual Web Developer 2008, which is a Microsoft product. I tried to download and install it (this is after I’ve restarted my IE browser and everything’s kosher, mind you) and I only got as far as the screen shows down there ↓.

I thought to myself, maybe it just needs another restart. Nope, it just goes in circles and never installs it. So I switch back to my friend Firefox again and try the same method. Once again it let me know exactly what was going on the whole time. “Do you want to save the file?”. Sure. “Here it is downloaded to your computer. Do you want to open this file?” Yes I do. “Ok, look, now it’s installing. Anything else is your OS’s fault. I’m going back to the Intarwebz, see you in a bit.” Ok buddy, ttyl.

Bottom line is, IE7 was not capable of downloading a simple file from Microsoft’s download page, but Firefox did it painlessly. I’m not just complaining about the evil corporation Microsoft for no reason like a lot of people out there. If you know me, you know I have nothing against them and the majority of products I use on a day to day basis were made by them. But this was truly frustrating and I wanted to vent about it before my anger subsided.
