Notoriously bland Google gets some color

The Google I’ve always known and loved is ugly. Well, actually it’s beautiful if you love simplicity, so ugly might be the wrong word. Let’s put it this way: it’s bland. But that’s OK because it works for Google and it gives a sense of stability and official..ity…ness.
Needless to say I was surprised to see that I could skin my personalized Google page. At first I thought it was just neat to actually have some colors instead of the standard white background, but then I realized that the theme itself transforms according to what time of day it is by prompting you for your city or zip code the first time you install it.
I chose the tea house one. When I get to work in the morning, my little fox guy is just waking up. Later he decides to go pick some oranges or whatever those fruit things are. Sometimes he’s in his boat, and sometimes he’s over by his little house.
It makes me want to reload the page every 5 minutes to see what activities he’s doing that I could’ve missed. The only way it could be better than this is if it was a real-time animation instead of a static, reload-requiring image. And if it was a widget on my desktop. And if I was the CEO of Google.
Yes, this is cool. I discovered it a few weeks ago and was delighted. At night he will camp out on the dock in a sleeping bag, or sometimes look through a telescope.
The other themes are just disappointing. It’s like they made the tea house one and then got bored.
Except now I notice *ode to joy* a _new_ theme!!! This one has a frog and a lady bug… not as cool as a fox, but it’s something new (I think I’ve seen all the fox ones).
Now what I want to be able to do is make my OWN theme. I would make a chomperstomp theme where you could watch chomper(The little guy in my logo on comperstomp.com) stomp all over the place…
Yeah, the rest of the themes do kind of suck, but I expect them to come out with more and more. I also foresee them enabling custom themes, in which case you have to make a chomperstomp theme!
