Dear Sister

No, I’m not imploring you, little sis. There are certain things in life that no one can explain. What is laughter? Why does laughter build upon itself? How does a car engine work? These are mysteries that will never be solved.
I have another question along these same lines: why are Saturday Night Live Digital Shorts so addicting to watch? I don’t know when exactly they started doing these little segments, but they are pure comedic genius. The more you watch them, the funnier they become.
This first one is called Lazy Sunday. Then I’ll hit you with a few MacGrubers. And I’ll end it with my favorite one of all time: Dear Sister.
“Mr. Pibb + Red Vines = crazy delicious!” – LOL
“What’s up? BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!” – LOLOL*
“Not so bad! BOOOOOOOOMMM” – ROFLOLOL
Ok, now this is a spoof of the last episode of The O.C. Season 2, which I had never seen before I saw the Dear Sister parody – and it was still the funniest thing I had ever seen. So, in case you are not an avid The O.C. watcher (which blows my mind if you’re not), here is a clip of the real thing, followed by the spoof below it.
THE REAL THING: (fast forward to about 2:20 if you want)
THE PARODY:
*update* The original video was taken down, so here is a link to another location with much better quality.
“Hey guys I just thought of the funniest thing!”
*BANG*
“mmm watcha saaaa-aaay…..”
LMFAOMGBBQLAWL!
If you like these, then check out the Laser Cats episodes. There are a lot more of these skits out there. Props to AJ for showing me the Dear Sister clip and telling me what it was actually spoofing. I never would’ve known it was The O.C.
*P.S. I realize MacGruber isn’t technically a Digital Short, but srsly who in the heck cares.
Here are my favorites:

Oh my word. I can’t believe someone out there has already posted about this. Please, if anyone’s reading this, for the love of all things sacred, go to the link Brad posted and watch the Duck Hunt spoof and the 300 spoof.
Pure comedic gold.
[...] hopped on the SNL Digital Short Love Train today, bringing me back to my old post and my unfilled void. So over lunch I whipped it together, [...]
Dangit, trackback beat me here. Anyways, check out the new one I just made at http://blog.bradjward.com/?p=242. And if anyone can find the Peyton Manning one, let us know. It was brilliant.
This is getting ridiculous. I love it.
Dude, I think I tried to show you these this summer because I posted that in July. It must have been before 10am.
You totally did. And then I cursed your family because you tried to talk to me before 10am. I should’ve put a sign up. And an invisible fence.
Man, I knew I’d seen the mmmwhachasay clips before, but I didn’t realize that it was one of the first posts I read on brad’s blog.
The CHRONIC-what?-CULLS OF NARNIA! This is like 4 years old, but still one of my all time favorites. Right after it first came out was when the huge thing about youtube posting copyrighted content happened, and you couldn’t find the clip anywhere except on the studio’s website, even though every day someone would pirate it, name it something else, and throw it up on youtube until it got found and taken down. It was like… anti-virus video or something. With the studio trying to kill their own viral video… idiots…
Why don’t they want free advertising for their show? Do you know how many people have viewed that clip that have never seen a Digital Short, or SNL for that matter, and then watched SNL the next week because of it?
I love that theme song for MacGruber. That gruff voice just keeps on incessantly singing the same notes, but the words change every episode. I think it’s quite possibly funnier than the episode itself.
“The guy’s a social drinker! MacGruber!”
Hey Brian,
Do you know what the song is that’s one the SNL spoof of the OC Episode? I can’t not find that song anywhere and I love it! : )
Wow, I just did the worst spelling and typing job of my life. . . I apologize. . .
Please tell me you did that on purpose… I’d offer to edit the comment for you so there would be no evidence of such a ghastly sentence, but it’s pretty much the funniest thing I’ve ever read and it made me laugh out loud while I was at work, so I’m keeping it there for eternity.
It’s called Hide & Seek by Imogen Heap.
You can go to http://www.deezer.com and search for Imogen Heap to listen to the whole song if you want.
Awesome Brian! Thanks. Lol, I’m glad I accidentally made you laugh out loud : )
