Patriots are 18-1*

A lot of people lost a bunch of money yesterday, and a few people can now retire. The Giants weren’t supposed to win.
No one thought the Giants could beat the Patriots. This is somewhat of a surprise to me since the Giants almost handed it to them a few weeks back, losing by only 3 points – 38 to 35. But it was still hard to picture Eli capturing the trophy the year after his brother, especially against the 18-0 Patriots.
The most important play was when Manning scrambled out of a sack on 3rd down and connected with David Tyree, who made an amazing over-the-head catch with just over a minute left. Then came Burress’ TD reception. Too easy.
They kept showing big bro Peyton after Eli made a great play, and it was neat to see him genuinely cheering for him. The Mannings now own the world.
Mr. Bilichick, thank you for showing your true colors last night. In front of an international audience, you disregarded the rules of the league, yet again, and proceeded to run onto the field (illegal), and then leave the stadium (poor sportsmanship), all before the game was officially over.
You definitely reinforced your asterisk. Here’s what it looked like before the Super Bowl:

Here’s what it looks like now:

Did anyone notice Tom Brady was crying throughout most of the second half? His eyes were all red while he was on the field, and I actually felt bad for him for a second. Then they showed Gisele watching from a suite laying atop a pile of money wearing only a Victoria’s Secret diamond-studded bra, and my pity was quickly deleted from my soul.
There is only one thing that could make me happier at this point, and that’s if the other Manning had beat the Patriots. But that would be less shocking, so maybe this is better. I don’t know how, but it just is.
I think I’m more happy for this game than I was last year. Hey, guess what? The 1984-5 bears were 18-1 too!
BUT THEY WON THE SUPER BOWL.
LOL @ patriots, and their gay fans.
I didn’t realize the Bears were 18-1 that year. That makes the joy of my heart and soul and mind and spirit and body complete.
As we were leaping up and down and yelling and screaming last night (starting with that ridiculous play of Manning avoiding the 7-man sack and the even more ridiculous catch by Tyree)…I have to confess that the emotion was *almost* what it was last year.
Almost. But not quite.
You couldn’t have asked for a better upset. Especially the way it happened.
I agree, Jon. I was in my living room with the Hungarian roomie asleep and the British one cheering with me. I was ALMOST as happy as I was last year when Jackson got the last interception at the end of the AFC game which I think was better than winning the Bowl. I’ve never been so happy to see somebody’s misery OR to see somebody get hit as hard as Brady did on the second down sack at the end of the game. Wow…
Brady was sacked 5 times last night. That’s the most he’s been sacked all year.
I hope Gisele broke up with him.
Why am I obsessed with their relationship? Because she’s so hot, oh yeah, that’s why. When I say ‘hot’ I’m coming from a purely objective observer of God’s creation.
