That first quarter was ridiculous. And although they should probably stop complaining after 14 years, I actually have some sympathy for Baltimore and what happened with the Colts. I used to think they should just get over it, but that situation was pretty messed up for them. Definitely not the usual “it’s just business” kind of thing. I wrote about it last year during the playoffs, if you’re at all interested. Sorry for the spam link:

    I’d Be Pissed Off Too

    I didn’t expect such a lopsided victory (44-20).

Wait. I didn’t expect such a lopsided first half (37-7).

Hold on. What I’m trying to say is, I didn’t think the first quarter would have been so lopsided (23-0).

Wait a minute, wait a minute. The point I’m trying to make is, I didn’t expect to see such a lopside opening 6 minutes of football (14-0).

No, no, no. I don’t think you’re understanding me here. I didn’t expect to see such a lopsided opening kickoff (0-0).

What’s that? You don’t believe me? You didn’t think the pregame would have been that lopsided? (potential for success-potential for disaster)

Well, then don’t ask for my opinion.

#25′s problem was that he tried to create a fumble, which was actually a smart move. The first down (at that point) would have allowed them to run the rest of the clock out. Their only chance to win at that point was for him to knock the ball loose. Heads up play, but he still looked like a fool.

I couldn’t believe the quick scoring. I was sitting at the Omni for Jen’s holiday party, and I snuck out for a ‘bathroom break’ to see that kickoff had just happened. 15-30 minutes later I come back out and it’s 14-0 with 6 minutes or so left in the first quarter. Nice work, Peyton.
