If you are confident in your design and development skills, I’m going to burst your bubble. Aviary is a suite of web apps for artists and designers. The software is in Beta and you can use Phoenix, the photo editor, for free.
Really, though, the reason I’m pointing it out to you is because of the image on the home page, as well as the rest of the site design. It’s beautiful and satisfying, especially when you hover over it with your mouse. I was sitting here at my desk, hungry for some bacon and eggs like usual, and then I went to the site and played around with the picture. Strangely, I was no longer hungry. I wasn’t just filled. I was fulfilled.
Don’t ask me what that means.
So, if you are indeed confident in your design and development skills, like I am was, just take one peek at the site and realize you have a long way to go. I’m not even talking about the software they created, I’m blown away by their website. Honestly, who designs this stuff? Who makes magical images like this? I can’t even get a jpeg to show up where i want it to on the screen and these guys are designing sites that look so tasty I want to lick my Dell monitor.
This video was created using Aviary. I don’t really get it, but it’s neat I guess.

BTW that phoenix looks like the new epic mount in WoW. Have you ever seen how fast they go? Like Mach 3. I’m tired of my 55 m.p.h. clunker rust-bucket Griffen.
That looks awesome. I would love to be able to use that since I don’t really have any usable graphics editing program to use at work. Do you have a beta account? I signed up for one but haven’t gotten an e-mail invitation yet…

I did not sign up for the beta because I don’t think I need it right now. I might if I get around to it.
So basically they’re all play Portal and Team Fortress 2 all day while they create the most amazing and brilliant web applications around. Nerf Aviary.
