Volkswagen Logo Totally Looks Like The WordPress Logo
WARNING: THIS SITE MAY CONTAIN PARODY AND/OR PERSONAL OPINIONS
Yesterday I was watching the boob tube and a Volkswagen commercial came on. At the end of the commercial I suddenly got the urge to blog, which hasn’t happened in a LONG time. I wondered about the connection but then my program came back on (Food Tech on History channel, if you must know) and I settled back into my catatonic TV-watching state (I call it “boob-tubing”). Then the same commercial came back on later in the program and I paid specific attention to the Volkswagen logo at the end. It was then that I realized why I got the urge to blog: the new Volkswagen logo totally looks like the WordPress logo. See for yourself:
Both images are white on blue, circular, and contain the letter “W” in white text blending in with the inner white border. Uncanny! But here’s the most interesting part: I got the urge to blog from the commercial, so I blogged about the commercial, which is what lead me to blog in the first place, without which there would have been no catalyst to blog about itself. Or another way of looking at it: this blog post only exists if the commercial exists, which is the source of this blog post originally, which is in turn a post about the commercial itself. The question then is, which came first, the blog post or the commercial?
Wait, we got off topic. The point is, some dude ripped off some other dude’s work. That reminds me of how Nickelback ripped off their own work – remember that post? It was better than this one.
This is awesome! It has conspiracy, theft, and trademark infringement! All the signs of a great mystery. It would be a great murder mystery, if say, Nickelback was murdered. I am just saying…

And the Aire Born logo… but the AB logo was done before WordPress. http://aireborn.com/welcome/public_relations.html
Nice looking site these days!!

An offer to purchase real estate in Toronto or Mississauga Ontario will usually contain a clause asking the seller to warrant all appliances
Interesting!
LOL. It's probably just a coincidence that the logos look similar. Or maybe subconciously, the WordPress logo maker wants a VW
Unlike John Fogerty, Nickelback didn't go to court for ripping off their own work did they?
Somehow I don't think VW will end up in court either.

Yeah, the big question is who ripped off who? We know volkswagen has been around a lot longer, but did they recently update their logo?
Lolololol! The VW logo has been a V and W in a circle since 1959, and has been blue since 1968.
The dropshadow is a clear ripoff of the WordPress logo though! Good investigative work!
I agree that the VW logo looks like the wordpress logo although it has been around for many years longer!
One thing is for sure though: Volkswagen came waaay ahead of WordPress. As for the logo, well…not my area of concern.
Hi, I'm one of the WordPress developers. If you're going to do a blog post that involves the WordPress logo, please, please, please use the real logo. See http://wordpress.org/about/logos/. The official WordPress logo is is tall and graceful, not short and squat. It is also almost always rendered as one color (typically black, gray, or blue), does not have a drop shadow or gradient, uses the Mrs. Eaves typeface (which does not have such straight lines).
"The point is, some dude ripped off some other dude’s work." No, it was an original design by world-class designer Jason Santa Maria. Then some dude came by and made the cheap logo you're pawning off as the real thing.
I was just about to say the samething. Thumbs up Andrew!
+1000 I was literally thinking the same thing "why does that WP logo so look weird?"
Fixed it, thanks for pointing this out! Now it looks even MORE like the VW logo!
Wait, what? You went through the effort of matching the same blues and outlines just to try to continue to sell your obviously wrong original point? If you're going to make a comparison, take two official, unaltered logos, and compare them. Or, don't, and cut your losses and admit you were wrong.
I'm pretty sure you're now arguing that every "W" logo — given the right amount of coloring, typeface changes, and other things that make a logo unique — are the same.
Nice work, sir. You have successfully trolled me.
No problem, happy to do so!
About the colors, your link has lots of logo colors, and the link from that page to fan art has even more, so don't try to get all technical with me: http://wordpress.org/about/fanart/
Oh, and one more thing, don't ever come back to my block again, because elitist jerks who scour the Internet looking for arguments aren't welcome here!
Now, go back to developing WordPress – I'm waiting on 3.5. HURRY UP.
Dude, you are make money from WordPress by selling themes http://themeforest.net/user/IndustrialThemes. Please respect the dev, and please find another way to drive traffic to your website other than this.
Cheers
Here's a more realistic comparison http://jes.se.com/volkswagen-logo-totally-doesnt-…
Wow really? If you're going to sit there and tell me the second comparison doesn't look similar, you need to have your eyes (or your ego) checked!
Oh shoot you're right, I forgot that my free speech is limited because I'm making money off of a software product!
BTW – Nacin is the one that found a 2 year old blog post written for comedic effect that no one cares about and sparked an argument looking for trouble, so why don't you go comment on his blog – I don't want you here, please never come back.
The post would be even better if you were using the actual WordPress logo. The one you’re showing isn’t. See http://wordpress.org/about/logos/ as to why the VW/WP comparison makes a little less sense.
Fixed it, now it's even better!
Seriously? You actually spent time writing a blog post about this? Time to grow up, son.
Seriously? You actually spent time reading my blog post AND commenting on it? You are an enigma wrapped in a mystery wrapped in a riddle. Don't ever come back to my blog again.
You're a class act, you know that?
Me? How in the world is my comment any worse than Gabe's? I'm willing to bet you follow Nacin on Twitter.
Ya, I do. I'm not sure how that matters. I'm also not saying that Gabe's comment was any better than your's. I couldn't care less about your illogical comparison either, but your replies here are petty.
Anyways, I'm not here to pick a fight and I have work to do. Have a good day, Brian.
You're right, that was a dumb comment. You have a good one too.
That is why it is better that you should relevant research before writing. You will be able to write better post this way.
I think I am gonna do this for my graphic design project..
I really enjoyed the quality information you offer to your visitors for this blog. I will bookmark your blog and have my friends check up here often.
Its a very interesting that the logo are look same, there are some separate logo for every car products. Every logo are separate from other logo, its a brand for the company and it used in the products. Here they mention that the word press and Volkswagen logo are look same but these are not look same.

Frankly, we haven't analyzed this to the point that we stand firmly on that calculation. But from Edge Studio's perspective as a premier voice production and training facility, we can attest that, for many reasons, the voice over field continues to grow, and the need for voice over talent is booming.
